Raid walked through the parking lot towards the grocery store, intent on actually buying his food for once in his life. And, of course, there was business... But such unpleasent matters should not be thought of so while grocery shopping. Bad vibes.
His black boots took him through the door, smiling lightly as he glanced at himself in the glass window. He was trying out something new; his silver hair stuck out like unkept needles from under a tall, black top hat; purple eyes shone with satisfaction. A long, black duster was draped over a white, button-up shirt- the top two buttons under- with a black vest lying between them. Black jeans clung to his legs.
The glass door opened with a jingle and he stepped in, duster billowing behind him with the gust of wind created. He bustled about the store, claiming chips, ice cream, Jones Soda, some matches, etc., and carried it all to the counter. As the worker rang them up, he leaned against it, looking intently at the old man.
"So... Donald, is it?" He asked, reading the nametag though he didn't have to. Donald merely smiled and continued his work. Raid smiled pleasently until he was done, then handed him two hundred dollar bills, much more than was need. Before Donald could make change, Raid grabbed his bags and shook his head.
"No, no. Keep the change for yourself," A grinning mouth said to the widening eyes. Then, as an afterthought, added, "Your heartattack's in less than a second anyways," And walked away. Sure enough, Donald fell, grabbing his chest, still grasping the two hundreds.

Molly had been in line just behind him with her basket full of groceries before it happened. She wrapped her red leather jacket close around her, trying to keep out the Cold from the AC. Her black eyepatch covered her right eye and with her blue-green left, she looked at the floor.
In her basket she arranged neatly a loaf of bread, a bag of apples, tortilla chips, and a bottle salsa, among other things. She didn't bother to really look as Raid spoke to the man and took his groceries away, but when the man collapsed on the floor, Molly rushed to his aid.
"Sir! Sir!" She placed her hand on his wrist to feel his pulse, not sure entirely of what to do. "PLEASE, SOMEONE!" She cried out, as any normal person might. "HELP! CAN SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE!?" She looked down at poor Donald's face, and watched as his eyes glazed over, and he let out his last breath. It was too late.
Molly noticed the 200 dollars in his hand and her eyes flew over to the man walking away who had given it to him. Did he do something to him, did he kill him? Molly hadn't a clue. Someone rushed into the building with a stretcher, and took over. She gave a pitied last glance at Donald before rushing to follow the man who she thought might have just killed him. Somehow.
"Sir!-" She called after him, running to catch up to Raid. "What did yo--..." She stopped herself, "Why did you pay that man 200 dollars?"
((Omg sorry, I was totally caught up in everything else. heh. sorry!))

Raid stopped as he was called, his boots clicking to a stop on the floor. He spun slowly, looking into the eyes of the girl, studying her, then smiled coolly. He walked up to her, ruffled her hair, chuckling a bit.
"I believed he should die happy. It's a small token, but it's the bit I could do," The man said very calmly, as if it was common knowledge, someone's time of death. With that, ignoring the men with the stretcher, he spun back around and headed for the door again.

"But how did you know he would die?" She asked him, following him now to get her answers. "Did you somehow kill him?" Her voice was blunt, but had a polite ring to it. She couldn't help but slow down a bit as the stretcher passed them again, many people crowded around it, hurriedly speaking to each other. Someone was crying on the other end of a phone. Molly frowned and went to catch up once again to this mysterious man whom she believed to be the murderer.

Raid sighed and spread his hands before him in a helpless gesture, still walking away from her. He shook his head in such a way that conveyed annoyence at the ignorance of people, a look he had managed to perfect in his many years.
"I knew he was going to die," He stated very plainly, very politely, "I knew he was going to die, how he was going to die, when he was going to die. I didn't do it," That sentence was made very clear, "But I knew it was going to happen, and I simply came to help it along. I'm not even sure why I bothered to show up myself. Just a petty mortal, worked here for forty years," His head shook again, sadly this time. When he reached the door, he stopped, his hand on the handle. Purple eyes swirled, looking back at the girl following him, and a sly smile crept across his face.
"Guess I needed groceries," The smile grew as he whirled on her again, "Don't worry yourself over the deaths of others, girl. He was a meaningless human, just like the rest of the lot. I promise you that I'll show up for yours. Hope that many, many years pass before you see me again."

"Hey wait!" She said, to halt him from opening the door. She took a step forward and took a good look at him, not sure what she wanted to say. Then finally the words came blurting out, Her tongue was sharp as she spoke, "Why didn't you save him?... Knowing that he was going to die and doing nothing about it.. that's the same thing as murder." She felt small spurts of fire swirling around her fingers in her outrage.

Raid's smile grew a little bit more, his eyes flashing, "Is that a fact?" He asked, a small laugh hidden deep in the recesses of his voice, "Murder? But if I saved every poor soul whose time came, this place would be overcrowded. Besides, what would you propose that I'd done? It was a heartattack. It's not like," Purple optics squinted, his grin grew dark as he lowered his voice, "It's not like I have power over life and death, now, is it?"
With that, he spun around her, pushing the door, "Now, if you'll very kindly leave me alone, I'll be on my way," He said, but he'd noticed the fire around her fingers and, more importantly, the fire in her soul, and he knew she wouldn't.

"It's not like I have power over life and death, now, is it?"
Molly grimaced. It was the look in his eye that told her otherwise. She knew of people with powers like that, and she suspected now that he might be one of them. "Who is to say you don't." She replied boldly, refusing to back down. "You heard me cry for help. I'm sure you did. Yet you kept walking..." Her own eyes narrowed, although only one of them could be seen, the other hid behind her patch. "Are you so immune to the pain and suffering of others that you don't even consider... giving him a chance to live on?"
"No." She quickly put her hand over the door to keep it closed. "I want to fight you." She said strongly, her voice as fiery as her hands were becoming. The metal of the simple steel door became quite hot. "And if I win, you perform a miracle."

Raid shook his head, his shoulders shaking in a chuckle that rose to a full blown laugh as he swung to face her, his duster billowing, twirling around him. His black gloved hands sliced through the air as he spun, one narrowly missing her neck, "Girl," He said, his voice grave, ominous, serious, and a bit playful and tempting, "Believe me, you do NOT want to fight me. If, however, you decide to persue your insane idea..."
A second later, he was ten feet away, standing straight and tall, duster falling elegantly around him, top hat completing it all, "You make the first move," The deep voice dripped with challenge and temptation he knew she couldn't refuse.

Molly smirked before unsheithing her sword. Amazingly, All of the workers of the grocery store and their shoppers didn't even seem to notice them. Molly didn't notice them either, so it only seemed fair. She rushed at him and swiftly jumped to his side as she then slashed, attempting to catch him off guard. Fire seemed to lunge from the blade when she moved, so that if she missed, perhaps he would be burned instead. She prepared herself to immediately fall into defensive if need be.

Raid laughed again as she sliced at him, jumping back with terrifying speed, "Fine, girl. If you do so desire to take on one so powerful as myself," He ducked, his own hands glowing with an otherworldly, silvery light that seemed to neutralize the air and the very empty space itself, "Then so be it," The sword skimmed just over his top hat, singing it a bit, as his hands launched out, open-palmed, striking with the shimmering twilight that surrounded them.

Molly dropped down into the defensive position with her sword and a barrier formed around her for that split second, and absorbed the rays of twilight. She sent shots of fire at him from all angles as she ran around him, looking for a weak spot.

Raid chuckled again, deftly dodging the flying embers. His billowing coat, however, wasn't as lucky. By the time they were gone, it was filled with holes, but that was fine with him. The shield had surprised him, for a moment, but now he actually read the runes on the enchanted sword, and mentally hit himself in the head.
Of course, now wasn't the time to feel stupid. He'd worry about that later, when he wasn't keeping his defenses up. She was quick, but he knew her shield would last for long, and her sword wasn't enough alone to protect against, not magic, but the raw power of life and death. Twilight flared around him, enveloping him, roaring in his ears and hers. In his eyes grew the deep, black holes of darkness, in his hands he held orbs of pulsating light. His body followed her, leaving no openings, no oppurtunities.

Molly swung and slashed at him, figuring that something might break through. She was feeling a strange warmth and cold wash over her at the same time, but didn't stop to think about it. surely... something has to crack Each swipe became more furious and fast, like a juggernaut.

Raid's smile grew wider with every wild slash, every random attack. Once your opponent was disoriented, crazed and angry, they were easier to catch off-guard. Of course, they also became more dangerous; Since they were randomly, they were unpredictable. After one quick dodge to the left, the boy jumped into the air, grabbed the sword between his hands, twisted, flipped, and fell to the ground behind her, using enough force to either break the sword or wrench it from her hands.
"Tell me, girl," He said, just before he landed in a crouch, "Have you ever taken learned to fight? At all?"

Molly fought to keep the sword in her hands. It flew off behind her. The thing was that her attacks had not been random, or crazed, they had simply been repetitive and mounting in force. She still felt that strange hot and cold feeling. "Yes." She said simply, "I was in Military training for the past three years among other things." Molly filled her hands with fire and jumped away from him, her eye watching his every movement. She wouldn't need her sword for now...

Raid grabbed the sword carefully, slowly, examining every inch, scratch, and rune of it. He laughed at her reply, his eyes still on the blade, "The military? What do they know? A bunch of gunpowder and extensive overuse of grunting. I grew up on my own, girl. I've spent numerous centuries in suspended dimensions, ones that pass years within a second of our time, training, focusing, for only one life form can exist in them at a time, you see. You have no idea what it means to focus your soul."
He turned the blade over, put both hands on the hilt, and focused the twilight into it, "Now let's see if things get interesting," The runes glowed, the metal sand and vibrated, pulsed, "Without your little toy," Steel turned to dust in an instant, the runes negated as he turned their energy in on themselves, "Good," He said, stretching his shoulders, cracking his neck, and crouching into a battle stance, "Now it's fair. Not to mention a hell of a lot more fun."

Molly couldn't believe what she was seeing. "No." She ran at him, trying to pull him away from her sword, but to no avail. "NO!" She shouted at him again, infuriated. How Dare He, she thought to herself, "My family gave me that sword... It's been in my family since-" She snarled at him, not knowing the date, how old it was. "That sword... was priceless to me..." She whispered the words, her entire body became coated in flame. She clenched her fist and swung at him, aiming straight for the face with a fist as hard as the steel he just turned to dust.

Raid reacted quickly, as always; he had expected such a reaction. However, instead of dodging the punch as he normally would, he smirked, focused the twilight into his fist, and launched it at her own, the twilight and flames meeting long before the fists did. The twilight popped and crackled, eating oxygen and creating it at the same time.

Talon had known the moment the runes where destroyed, in fact that is why he choose to appear. When Talon appeared he decided to step into the fray he now saw unfolding, Talon stepped between the two calmly and grabbed both peoples fist holding them about an arm's length away.

Molly's entire body seemed to flare up in rage when she was pushed away from Raid. She glanced angrily at who it was that did it. "Talon!" She said, surprised he would interfere. "Why are you stopping us?! Let me, He destroyed it! I need to punish him!" She snarled and tried to get around Talon. She sent rushes of fire at him with her mind. The flames spurted from between her eyebrows and were sent crashing into Raid.

Raid sighed and wiped away the flames, darkness eating them whole while light cleared the air. She had been fun for a while, but someone more interesting had come. His hand was still fizzling with the mass of twilight as his purple eyes looked Talon up and down. Strange, that he was here, but even stranger was the look of his soul. It seemed to be gleaming with death. It wasn't the same as Raid's own, but death had certainly taken hold. Not like a zombie or a vampire...
"Who are you?" Raid asked, his brow furrowed, both face and voice full of curiosity.

Molly glared at Raid continuously, "You mean to say Talon, that you were the replacement Death for him?" She hissed out the words. She lifted her gaze to Talon, "At least you aren't such a wanker." She pulled herself free of Talon's grasp and went over to what was left of her sword. She held the hilt lightly, looking at the dust with sorrowful eyes. The fire disipated a bit, allowing her face to feel the cold of her new-found hatred for Raid. Her back was still ablaze, like a flaming porquepine.(wow SP. ) She was listening to them.

Raid cocked an eyebrow, crossed his arms, and leaned back a bit.
"Replacement?" He said disbelievingly, although, secretly, he was worried. The multiverse was different; it seemed to treat him differently, it seemed confused. Ever since he came from ninety years ago, it was different. It seemed to half-recognize, didn't seem to register his abilities or position anymore. Something had been off...
"I highly doubt that the likes of you could replace me," While on the outside, he was cool, calm and collected, inside a battle waged. He could still feel when others would die; he could read the multiverse. In some twisted way, it recognised him, but not as it had. Some things still belonged to him; reading souls, that was a power that wasn't even specific to Death. Only Raid. Death could see things related to death, but Raid could view the entirety, good and evil, remorse. It wasn't the same as reading minds. In many ways, it was deeper, but it was more vague. The ability to touch souls was also his...
Worrying about the problem would get him nowhere, however. So, the multiverse had replaced him. Destraught at losing Death, it had replaced him. Fine. He could deal with it. It was a position, anyways, not a power, not really. Not to him. He could fight back, and would fight back. He still had friends in high, high places.
Curiosity and calm turned to a smile on his face as he stretched out a gloved hand, "Alright then, newbie," He said, his voice carrying a dark, malicious, yet hidden venom, "I suppose congratulations are in order. Nice to meet my successor."

Talon Laughed," Newbie?, I'm sorry Old timer but you have been replaced, and to be honest it is kinda nice to meet the Antiquities ", Talon walked over to molly and placed his hand on the blade, The dust pulled itself back together and formed the blade. Talon pressed his hand down on the blade and the runes reformed, one or two new ones carved themselves into it, they would make sure it didn't get destroyed again. " Now Raid i must request you don't damage such valuable items, especially those that i have taken time to craft myself" , Talon said mildly bored.

A bright smile filled her face as the sword pulled itself back together. Breathlessly, she ran her hand over the steel, her fire returning into her. "Talon... Thank you so much, I don't know how to repay you!" She said graciously, "You've done so much for me!"
She was so happy at the revival of her weapon she forgot Raid was present. Molly unclipped her sheith from her belt and slid it in. She held the sheithed blade close to her as she stood up again.
She noticed Raid there and a few sparks emmitted from her skin, but now that her sword was back and couldn't be destroyed again, she felt she might forgive him. If he ever appologised. Which, Molly added inwardly, She doubted.
Molly turned her gaze away from him, not sure if her silence qualified as cold-shoulder or fell more into the category of awkward.

Raid completely ignored Molly, other than the fact that Talon gave her back her sword. He had no problem with the return of the blade itself, more the way that Talon did it and Molly's reaction. 'You've done so much for me,' rang in his ears. This 'Talon' figure wasn't right at all; he seemed like a cult leader! Giving to others in order to gain their thanks and devotion- He couldn't care less about her! Could she not see that? This was most certainly not the way Death was supposed to act. Raid hated this imposter more than he ever dreamed, right up there with his father. However, while the thoughts were bubbling inside him, his physical appearence remained unchanged.
"Valuable items?" He asked with mild, feigned interest, "But it seems to me a cheap sword with runes scribbled on it, a small power boost for those who desperately need it. Why, I sell better in my shop. Ah, well. It was nice meeting my replacement. So young, so much to learn..." With that, he turned, his hat and coat suddenly repaired, and headed for the door.

Talon laughed quietly to himself," The obsolete people in this world are always so odd when they are finally faced with their successors ", he said in a hushed tone, " Well miss molly i do hope that you won't encounter anymore trouble that will damage your sword, but should it ever need to be repaired please don't hesitate to visit me at the Citadel. I'm sure Amy would love to see you again as well. " He then said in an overly cheer and slightly loud voice.

Molly gave Raid a steady glare of hatred when he insulted her sword and the back of her throat made a low crackling growl like a fire. She swallowed it and turned back to Talon, "I do hope I don't either." She said with a small laugh, "but if I do, I know where to turn." She gave a small bow, "Thank you again, Sir Talon, Sir." She smiled, and turned to head out the doors, "Well I better get going. I still have some shopping to do." She said as she reclipped the sword to her belt and walked out.
