Well, I'm finally back to making polls again. Like any writer who has even a little understanding of how to come up with a plot, I fully understand the value of incorporating precidents into my characters. As you all may be aware, I recently made 'Triton', my first sci-fi type character on this forum. It's ADDICTING!!!!! I mean, seriously, it's fun and all to make a vampire or werewolf or rabid squirl (I did that on one forum), but there's nothing quite like making a robot with its own A.I.. I'm thinking about making another one (because it's SOOOOOO fun!) and I would like y'all's input in deciding what base design I should work off of. Don't worry about me doing something dumb and COPPYING that character (there is nothing worse in my eyes than doing that), I'm only thinking about using the physical design of the characters to make something... and even then, I will throw in many unique twists to make the design my own rather than somone else's. P.S.: I'm also considering the Cyborg element, so don't freek out when you see a few on the list. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Y'all probably saw this coming, but I have pics of them!!!! Terminator R2D2 C3P0 Darth Vader M9 Venom Zaku Gundam Wing Heavy Arms Death Scythe Virtue Longshot Gawain Lancelot Optimus Prime Megatron Robotech (forgot name, plz post if u remember) Dreadnaught Ironman War Machine The Borg B9 Robocop Briareos Landmate Guyver Zegapain Van Data Eva Other

Vote one goes to Megatron: head of the Decepticons and enemy to all things biological!
Will more people vote, or will the design for this destructive robo be the one I base a new character on?
p.s.: as per usual, any tie will be resolved with a vote from me ^^
p.p.s.: I will be putting up extra data for every robot that is posted for, including pics, storyline, design features, etc. This will start in my next post and I will do it for EVERY mech that gets a vote.

Alright, time for those stats (sorry, had chores to do)
White Glint: One of those mechs I just whistle at when I see it. The White Glint is built like a heavy, but with boosters and an energy core that let it move like no other. The 'wings' on this beauty's back have four barreled balistic weapons that flip from behind it to the front to be used as heavy weapons. A boss-battle in the Armored Core game, it is piloted by one of the best (that is, until you crush it). To quote 'The Art of War': "Be close but still untouchable".... the speed and maneuverability of this thing allow it to get within range and then unleash all heall with its guns while dodging. This would be any mech pilot's dream weapon.
Although the specs and weapons systems of this daunting robo are truly spectacular, there is one thing that REALLY sets it apart from the others (especially in that game franchise)... it's overboosters. Almost the entire back of the Glint has booster-rockets installed designed to allow it to cover massive distances in no time flat: reaching a max velocity of 1000 mph when in the air. Once again, this thing seems to have a theme of getting in, hitting the target, and getting out.

Megatron: One of the old OLD mechs of legend for anyone who is a frequent of comiccon, Megatron hates all things biological and is the head of a genocidal association: the Descepticons. Origionally designed to be rather bulky and heavilly armored with a beam-cannon (one of the few to actually carry a heavy weapon in the orrigional series), one could easilly mistake him as just a big slow target, but this is foolishness. After all, one can hardly be a main villain if they're that easy to defeat, now can they? Megatron is also equipped with a force-shield capable of easilly turning aside projectile attacks, and his close-combat prowess is comparable to Optamus Prime's.
The more recent movy saw some changes in his design that can arguably make him more easilly defeatable. In this new movie he lost the cannon and became capable of easilly tearing apart limb-from-limb any of the autobots in close combat. To put things simply, they compromised his range for near undefeatable juggernaut-ism.
Both versions of the great leader are highly formiddable, and are worthy of the legend that he has become.

Presently it is a tie between Megatron and the White glint: Power and flexibility. It is easy to see such a match-up early on. Where one fails, the other succeeds. Who will win, the object of any pilot's drool or the terror of the stars?
All-in-all, I expected something like this would happen, it alwayse does on the first day: two opposites are chosen and no-one agrees on what the best is. It's only in those final days that true winners are made, the days before are merely the days on which options make it past the prelims.
So far, we have two fierce contendors: but who else will join the debate for the best design? Honestly, I myself don't know.
p.s.: If you don't quite know what one of the options is, then pm me and I will send you a detailed description.

The Borg: What fan of Sci-fi isn't all too familiar with that old phrase "resistance is futile"? I almost didn't put them on the list until I started brushing over other cyborgs like 'briareos' and Darth Vader; but once I started there was no turning back. I can safely say though that NOTHING terrifies me like the over-all concept of the Borg.
The Borg (for those of you who DON't know what they are) are, simply put, the largest form of communist entity ever come up with. The borg was initially just one cyborg, but she began to invade and 'assimilate' other cultures and machine types. To become a Borg, one is injected with a huge number of nano-bots who slowly infest the body and control the nervous system, forcing the biological entity to bend to 'the Borg' aka: that one origional. They incorporate all of the data, technologies, and experiences from the civilizations they have conquered.
As far as actual design goes, its like each one of the borg is a lifeless machine-zombie. They move as such, slow and clunky. Each is equipped with a close-combat wrist-blade that serves to inject the nanno-bots into their victims. One of their eyes is replaced with a targetting system with mulitple options such as infra-red. balistic weapons are hardly effective due to their zombie-like features. The borg do not blead. The borg do not feel pain. The borg do not retreat. The borg do not negotiate.
Their basic tactic is 'quantity over quality'. They can soak up a lot of conventional weapon-fire and move like a juggernaut. However, this is not the part to fear of the borg. As more of the cyborgs are killed by a weapon, they gain data from it. This data is put into their shielding system. In otherwords, when fighting the borg, the same weapon won't work twice. A truly frightening concept given just how many their normally are in a raid.
Individually however, they are quite week. Otherwise, resistance is indeed 'futile'.

Well y'all, it's been fun (dispite my general lack of response for the last month ^^), but it's finally time to make a winner out of all these.
For me: The borg can't really be it, I mean, they're effectively rotting bio-units rigged with machinery to make themselves the ultimate meat-shields. This doesn't make very well for an easilly playable character.
* Megatron was a close second for me. Although I'm reluctant to make the good ol' boy lose, I think the days of clunky, heavilly armored bots are come and gone. Even the new one was, quite frankly, horribly armored and too juggernaut-style oriented to be taken seriously.
**** #1: White Glint. The instant that this one was reccomended I laughed out loud that I had forgotten to put it on. Fast, high-powered, agile, and relatively well armored, The White Glint cought my attention and just wouldn't let it go. I think it's safe to say that we have a winner in this one.

Note: All three of the designs that were voted on will be taken into consideration while making the character, but white glint will primarilly dominate. Needless to say I'll add my own little tweeks and modifications (not to mention personality and backstory). Thank you all very much for helping me ^^
