Tek sat at a small table in the library, his head slouched down and his long, black hair falling in front of his face so much so that it would be hard to tell the difference between him and an emo Cousin It. Annoyed, he brushed the hair away from him, only to have it fall back as he continued to read the book in front of him. He had wanted a library, no, needed a library, for a while. Studying was all he knew.
The book with the plain black cover was only one of many he had read. He had looked up the history of this world, all the empires, rulers, legends. They all seemed entirely mad to him. All the advances in technology, yet, socially, instinctually, they seemed to have decayed. Eventually, he had gotten sick of it all, and had turned to what he read now.
It was one about other dimensions, other realms, a subject he was very familiar with. It was written by someone not of this world, this broken, mad world, of which Tek was greatly thankful.

The library is a vast mysterious, yet wonderful place to be. If one were to be bored, they could read; at the very least it was a place to think. Mortiana walked up and down the aisles, thinking and looking, "I'm supposed to train a young man that has a very small grasp for magic; how to do it is the question." She studied the shelf long enough to find a tattered book of magic, and it seemed to have all the basic spells a young magic user would need. Elemental spells are good for starting, and fighting spells are great too; Mortiana kept the book near her as she used a levitation spell to think more in depth of the situation. When thinking too hard, one often loses where they are, and Mortiana was a victim of the act; she tripped right in front of Tek as the book landed on her. She kept down in shame.

Tek lifted one eye from his book and looked at Mortiana for a moment, a smirk on his face. Another pathetic Earthling, he thought to himself, but the smirk vanished after a moment. There was something different about this one. Perhaps not an Earthling at all? Or simply a greater power inside her?
Whatever it was, something attracted his attention to her, and he found himself staring. Although he had never been one for manners, he couldn't help but feel, well, rude. He put his old book down and stood up, holding his hand out to the fallen girl.

Mortiana felt a hand near her; she grabbed the hand with her face still down. This hand was strong, like a man's, yet it seemed to have a different feel. It was as if the hand she grabbed belonged to some one, or something, that wasn't human at all. She pulled herself up and kept her face low, still feeling full of disgrace and sighed, "Thank you," she said in a soft, cold, and depressing tone. Mortiana looked up with her yellow eyes, he was at least attractive.

A quiet smile touched Tek's lips as she took his hand and looked up to him. He had only been among this strange race for a few years, but he had noticed a handful of things. Like the fact that yellow eyes were hardly common. And, of course, sad tones were present even in his dimension, and he knew how to sympathize. He wasn't a monster.
"You're welcome," He said simply, studying her carefully.

Mortiana continued to stare, for she had not an idea as to how she should react; what to say, what to do, or even how to leave if she wanted. There was a lot of tension in her, but for and odd reason the air around the two was friendlier than expected. For now though, Mortiana would have to sit there for a while until she could find a way to break the ice.

Tek stared back at her for a few moments, studying her, the quiet smile still on his lips. Conversation had never been his strong point, but, then, that was mostly because he tended to avoid it whenever possible. For lack of anything better to do, he reached down and picked up the book she had dropped on her fall, handing it to her. He couldn't help but notice the cover, notice that it had something to do wth the magical. Notice that it was a book of the basics.
"You're studying magic?" He asked, his tone sencerely curious, without the hint of sarcasm or doubt some held when speaking of the art. He himself had a healthy respect for it.

With one canine, Mortiana slightly bit her lower lip, shifted her eyes to the left, then up a little, then, finally, she relaxed and shook her head from side to side. She stood properly and crossed her arms, "There's a boy I'm teaching, but I don't have a better way other than a book." Her tone was cold and depressing; it was almost like listening to a little girl after her favorite parent died, but no tears. Mortiana made the temperature go down, for it made her feel more relaxed.

Tek felt the change in temperate, acknowledged it, noted, and said nothing about it. To question that which you don't know, he had learned long ago, was to admit that you don't know, and that can be a dangerous thing.
He took sympathy on her, pulling out a chair at his table and offering it to her, for it seemed that it wouldn't do for her to stand, his eyes softened considerably as he did.
"Well, you could teach him hands on," He offered half-heartedly, "Are you alright?"

Mortiana nodded as to say thank you with out a word, yet as she sat she thought upon the idea of "hands on teaching", but didn't rule it out just yet. Her skin was snow; indeed it was covered in frost, but this didn't effect her at all. Mortiana looked at Tekeim and replied, "Yes, I'm quite fine; I thank you for not laughing at me." She then relaxed got comfy in the seat.

Tek pulled the quiet smile again, a hint of amusement tinting his eyes. He still didn't mention the cold, though it was getting irritating now and his body shivered a little. He was, however, used to most severities- Cold, hot, or whatever else life had decided to toss in his way. He passed the cold off with a shrug and turned his attention back to Mortiana as he took his own seat at the table.
"Now, why would I laugh at you? Training a young apprentice is not something to scoff at. I know how difficult it can be, believe me. Perhaps I can offer a helping hand," His deep blue eyes showed only a true willingness to help. Many bad things could be said about him, but 'dishonest' was not one of them.

The room's temperature returned to normal; Mortiana felt the slight irritation of Tek and kept the cold to herself, so now she was frozen ice to the touch, for she read the temperature off of hum. Then she turned her head away, "I meant when I tripped, it's embarrassing for me." Her eyes looked at Tek, "Though I'd greatly appreciate your help. I know I need it."

"Ah," Tek said, the sile growing on his lips, but barely enough to be noticable, "Yes, I've never been one to laugh at another's misfortune. I have my own embarassing moments, and it wouldn't be fair to laugh at someone else's. And, as long as it's not too interfering, I would love to offer any help I can. I haven't so one new to magic in a long time now."
As he spoke, he silently closed the old book on realms and traversing them that lay in front of him. He may have just found something more interesting than the yellowed pages.

Mortiana nodded, "Yes, he's indeed a new one; I'm sure we can help him severely." Yet again, she was at a loss of words; everything felt right, but when she went to speak it was as if alarms in her head were stopping her. Her eyes looked around for a tiny bit before she asked a serious question, "where do you come from? What are you?"

Tek smiled his quiet smile, though this time it wasn't hinted with any emotion. Instead, it was concealing, blank. He looked down slightly, seeming to think something over before he spoke up. Indeed, it was a serious question, and he wasn't sure how to answer.
"I," He said finally, speaking slowly with measured, well thought out words, "Am from a realm called Faerdon. In some ways, it would be considered more primitive than this Earth of yours, for we live in what you would think of as the middle ages. But we are more advanced in magic, in socialization. We like where we are."
With all his explaining, he seemed to be avoiding something. He paused, then, "WHAT I am is a more difficult question. We call ourselves Senthans. But I am... Special," He brought his head up to meet her eyes, "They call my kind Binders. There have only been a handful of us in the history of our realm, and there hasn't been one for centuries. We have an incredibly innept ability for magic, plus the ability to fuse with creatures, in body and spirit."

Mortiana smiled, softly at first, then she snickered, then she laughed loudly. Her whole form was in a ball, curled tightly to keep herself from losing control of her seat; she sounded like one of the cartoon chipmunks, but not near as squeaky. Mortiana continued with her fit until she could breathe; she regained her posture and position, but the smile remained, "I'm so sorry. I'm laughing at you! I promise you, I'd never laugh at someone just because they're different. I'd be a hypocrite, and I'm not such a person, so I'll explain." Mortiana continued to smile, but sighed, "I come from hell, where the savageness is worse than the animals from the prehistoric era. You see, I'm interested in you because you're different, you're not of here, yet you and I share a lot in common." Suddenly the ice that seemed to be her smile became warm and friendly.

Tek was taken aback by the laughing, embarassed before she explained, and then by the friendly smile that suddenly appeared on his face. He smiled back at her, still a quiet smile, but with a slight warmth to it. He laughed a little as she spoke, though not nearly as much as her. He regained himself quickly, gazing at her as if he had finally found one to relate to.
"Well, I suppose you're right. I've heard of Hell; It seems interesting enough. My own world is filled with amazing creatures. They're what I fuse with."

Mortiana snickered again, "Like Kyo, that strange creature she is. Though you've peaked my interests, what is it like when you fuse with other creatures?"

Tek laughed, this time for real, "It's a rather simple process," He explained. He held out a hand, "Our bodies combine, their features and powers adding to mine. Our souls inhabit one deformed body. Allow me to demonstrate," He waved the outstretched hand and, for just a second, a roc with shining metal blades instead of feathers appeared in the room, but only for a second, then it was gone. Standing in place of both the roc and Tek was a humanoid figure, taller than tec and with blade-feathers covering its entire body. Wings stretched from arms that ended in talons instead of hands. The creature stood only for a minute, and then Tek was back, grinning in his quiet way.

Mortiana stared in utter disbelief, "We you...just a male version of a harpy?" She thought for a moment, processed what just happened, then smiled again, "Your kind is more advanced than the humans; they can morph with a wolf and become a werewolf, or they can change their blood entirely and become a vampire, but this...this is different." The warm smile spread upon her face again, "Though I like that. I'm really interested now."

Tek laughed brightly, "Most are, when they realize what we can really do. Werewolves typically become deranged, insane. Vampires become overcome by bloodlust. I have studied the human kind, in all its many forms. There are other things I can do, other things that work rather well with my ability to fuse. Even the beings in my world are jealous of us. Being the first Binder in a century, I was hunted like a wild dear."

Her smile faded a little bit and she held the tips of her longer fingers to her lower lip, "Oh wow. So you mean to tell me that there's a race of....what ever you said you were...in a different dimension, but you're rare to them?" Mortiana paused and lowered her hand again to her lap, with a smile, "Demons of damnation, no wonder why I like you; why I'm so comfortable around you, for you're of a different place, not Earth, and you're completely different than to everyone else." She smiled more, "Please, tell me more of yourself."

Tek smiled his quiet smile, silently delighted to tell a bit of his story, "Well, like I said, I was hunted like a source of food. Warriors, thugs, magi... They wanted the power I have, they were jealous of me. They figured if they couldn't have it, why the hell should I?" He gave a little laugh, pushing his black hair out of his eyes.
"I killed them. Everyone that came after me. Sadly, this all started when I was just a boy. When I first found out I was a Binder. Because of it, I became hardened, careless towards others. For the most part. I became a mercenary. My prices were high but, hell, there was nobody in the world who could match me," His voice wasn't free of pride, but it was more simple fact than bragging.

Mortiana was serious this time when she smiled, "My my, it sounds oh so familiar; I should know that feeling. I too have found that killing the hunters is the only way to get things out of your hair." Though the seriousness faded when she talked, the wild excitement combusted in her eyes. She again adjusted to be comfortable and she smiled, "But I have to ask, why did you pick here of all places?"

Tek shrugged, "I have asked myself that question many times. It wasn't exactly my idea to come here. Realm walking is a long talked about power of Binders, but it is the most unbelievable one. To be honest, I didn't think it was true. Not until it happened to me, anyways. It's hard to explain exactly what happened," His brow furrowed. He seemed to be thinking hard, "I was in a field, and then... Then I was in this huge, black space. There were spheres all around me, different worlds, and, whenever I looked at them, I saw glimpses of them and their past. I chose this one- I must have, right?- And then I was here."
