Name: Chris Hunter
Age: 17
School Year: Equivalent of a Junior
Appearance: Chris has deep forest green eyes and pale skin even though he spends a lot of time outside. He has light hair slightly longer than shoulder length and is about 5"11'.
Clothing: Chris is usually seen and recognized by his dark cloaks with the hood down. Underneath he usually wears dark skin-fitting clothing that it is very sturdy and can withstand a lot of wear.
Personality: Chris used to be a happy go lucky child who would always be ready for anything. But after his parents abandoned him he changed and tends to avoid human contact. He would prefer to just stay in his room tending plants then interact with others.
Background:
Chris is the son of two botanists. At five he discovered the world of exotic plants and loved them. He was amazed by all of the different kinds of plants. At eleven his parents decided to move to the Amazon Rainforest. They saw how much Chris enjoyed caring for plants and offered to take him out of school to accompany them. Chris was overjoyed to have such an opportunity and agreed to come with them.
Chris very quickly adapted to the life in the forest. They had moved into a small three room hut with two bedrooms, an office, and a bathroom. But attached to the back was a full scale greenhouse. In it his parents cared for all the exotic plants that they had accumulated over the years and the newly gathered ones from their new home. Chris very quickly adapted to life in the forest. He would go out for hours at a time alone into the forest and then come back to help care or the plants in the greenhouse. He had a rare talent for caring for plants. All of the plants that he cared for seemed to thrive. So for his fifteenth birthday after much discussion between his parents they dedicated one fourth of the greenhouse to him and whatever plants he would like to keep there.
So Chris would go out and find an interesting specimen, then bring it back to the greenhouse and place it in a new spot and care for it. Everything that Chris brought in would flourish. This went on for about a year and then things started to change. Some loggers would be found poking around their part of the forest and when ever they saw Chris’s parents they would try to buy their property so that they could log it down. Of course his parents refused. And for a time that seemed like it would be enough.
Then the loggers seemed to be coming even more frequently and becoming more aggressive. They seemed to be coming at least once every week and if not more than that. Chris’s parents seemed to be getting nervous. They would tell Chris to be careful when he went out even though he had never had a problem in the forest since the time that they had began living there. But he heeded his parent’s warnings and stayed alert for danger. Then it happened…
Two days later Chris’s God-parents arrived to pick him up. Hs parents had not been there for two days now. When they looked for Chris they could not find him. Then they checked the greenhouse. In the corner where Chris’s plants were kept was a cocoon of vines. Within it was Chris. He was clutching a letter he had found on the office desk two days before. It read:
Dear Chris;
We are sorry that we have to leave like this. It was not our original plan and we know that you will not agree. But to keep you safe we must go into hiding. We are leaving you in the care of your god-parents Ron and Clair. We know that they will take good care of you. They are good people Chris and so are you. We are sorry about this. But be good for them. They mean well and we are sure that you will be able to handle this.
We’re sorry,
Mom and Dad
Chris took it really hard that his parents had left him. But his god-parents were very understanding of his loss. They even allowed him to bring a “few” of his plants from the greenhouse to his new home. Truthfully he turned his new room into a miniature jungle. There was a path leading to a bed and the rest was filled with plants. But his god-parents allowed it because they knew how his parents had been.

Clair walked up to the door of the dark room at the end of the hall… He lightly knocked on it… “…yes…” came the faint response from Chris. Clair opened the door to his jungle-room and looked in at him. “Chris… You’re going to have to start school again now that you are living back here…” She said faintly. “I know…” responded Chris. “Your parents had you tutored well out there. You should actually be ahead of the game for now okay?” Clair added. “Okay…” replied Chris. Clair turned and closed the door then walked away.
Chris looked down at the vine that was growing up the headboard of his bed. He lightly ran his fingers across it and it fell over across his arm. It seemed to become tangled around his wrist and arm and he sighed. “They just don’t understand what it’s like…” he said quietly to himself…
