A girl walked uphill on a large stretch. She could feel the presence of the Mountain, but her blindness prevented her from admiring it's majesty. She felt the hard rocks under her feet, and the wind rushing past her more quickly the more she climbed. "At the top of this mount..." She said to the winds, "I will say goodbye to them... ..There is no reason to go back now, even if the wars end..." Her voice was bold and had nobility, and she shed no tears this day.
It was late afternoon, and she felt the sun hit her with it's radiant heat at the peak. She felt the sudden drop as she took a cautious step forward, and so sat where she had been. Her blind eyes closed, and she began to search through her mind all the memories she had of The Elders... And her Father.... Many of them from before she lost her sight. She still remembered the majesty with which each dragon soared through the air, and she remembered how once she had been so afraid of their might. Oh their fire and teeth were stronger than hers...
But they had fallen. The scream she had heard was that of utter agony. Humans had flying machines that could track them, and had spears that could pierce through the dragon's tough scales... They wanted to tame the forces of the wind, to stupify them and keep them like pets.. The wars were but a game to them. How Niyu resented them so.
But here she was to be mourning. Not avenging... She was on Earth to be safe from the Lunar Realm's pain. "I now send the spirits of The Elders of the Dragon Clan of Sky to the Great ones for their judgement." The air around her suddenly stilled as she preformed the rite, as if stopping to listen to her speak. She gathered some of the air with the memories of each elder and sent it up to the sky in a great billowing gust which she felt chilling her ears. She felt her heart beating fast as she sent of the next soul, "I now send the spirits of Tii-oro Dodi, Shaman of the Skies, to the Great Ones for their judgement... ...Goodbye father..." The gust she sent was ferocious and powerful. It made Niyu's heart sing with grief. "May one day I too be judged as favorably as them... For their deeds far outnumber mine..."
Then, Niyu sang the Summersong as the sun set. She absorbed the heat into her smooth flesh skin. Being human on a place like earth took some getting used to.. Niyu sat there for some time, just thinking. It was if she was waiting for a reply from the sky... Like she would witness their judgement..

"You look like your world just crashed in." Drew said. He had been passed out on a nearby patch of grass, having been knocked out by Ayva a few hours before. He had watched the funeral quietly, making the sign of the cross out of respect for the dead.

Niyu turned her head, "Who is there?" She asked calmly, her unsettling blank stare focused in his direction, where she had heard the voice. She refused to answer his question. She thought the answer should be obvious. She made no motion to stand up. Niyu sniffed the air, "You are human.. What is your name?"

"Drew." he said, standing up. He brushed himself off, rubbed his aching head and crossed the distance between them to shake her hand. "And you are?"

Niyu tensed as she heard his footsteps towards her. This Drew figure was human, and therefore tricky. "I am Niyu.." She obviously could not see his hand, so she couldn't shake his. "You saw The Departure, right?" She was referring to the funeral.

"The funeral? Yeah, I did. Sounds like a crying shame." Drew said, sttuffing both his hands in his pockets, Drew had a very apathetic way of speaking, his voice was soft and emotionless and he spoke softly out of reverence for the dead.

"Well, we all knew that staying was a huge risk.. but they refused to leave.. I didn't know that It would be so immediate though- their deaths I mean... They led good lives.." She stood up then, "Drew, Would you please lead me to flat land once more... I'm afraid I'm not as good going down as I am going up..." She didn't know if she could trust this person, but if he misguided her than she could always turn into a dragon and toast him.. at the cost of course of a talisman..

"Of course." Drew said. He took her by the wrist and started walking down, careful to avoid any paths that would be treacherous to someone who couldn't see. "Be careful here, it's a little steep..." he warned.

"I give you thanks..." She said formally, feeling the small twists in the ground with her feet. Her other arm was held out shakily to keep her balance. She took a bit longer to go down than Drew did, as she was far more cautious with each step. "You are very kind." She added with a small smile. She flapped her wings defiantly, wishing that she might be able to fly down to the bottom... But they were torn and broken. It was such a shame.

"No, I'm not. I'm doing what anyone would for someone." Drew said. "Are you new to the area?"

"Yes.." Niyu said, "The term 'area' is an understatement..." She said with a light chuckling sound. "I am a Dragon," She grinned, as if to show off her fangs, simply out of habit, "From the Lunar Realm... Have you heard of it?"

"No, I don't think I have. Is it pleasant there? I'm just from here myself. It's okay, I guess."

Niyu smiled, "Yes, It had the sound of birds and tinkling bells, and the winds were cool." She felt her mouth growing into a smile at the memory which was so close now, "Here though, the sound is loud, honking and beeping, and the smell of humans, slowly rotting.... To imagine this is ones home... How do you survive in such a place?"

"Actually, I don't survive. I die a lot, I just come back straight away. You should try going out towards the country more though. It's a lot quieter there, less cars and smog."

"I'll look into that.." Niyu said thoughtfully. She took a few steps downwards and there was a rock jutting out at a weird angle. Her foot hit it as she was walking and she started tripping forward..

Drew pulled her back and caught her, setting her back safely upright. "Sorry, I should have warned you about that. I didn't see it there."

Niyu put her hand on her heart, "My, that was startling!" She said lightly, "It's alright. I would've only gotten a bruise or so anyway if I had fallen..." She shrugged, of course using gestures like that felt very weird to her, it was apparently human norm.

Niyu sighed, "Yes yes... I'm fine." She said, with a small laugh for about no reason.

"I'd like to go to the city for a little while, as it is my new home... Perhaps get a feel for the place and count my steps. Is that alright with you?" She felt the ground now getting more level, and she felt the back of her legs become aching from the strain of mountain climbing. She was glad she was nearing flat land...

"It's fine by me," Drew said, "We're nearly there anyways, and we'll find a park bench there so you can get some rest, okay?"

"Would you mind bringing me to the Tavern, actually? I'm staying there with some friends.." She was walking more comfortably now, and felt she wouldn't trip any longer. She started to feel her own way with her wind power. A light breeze picked up and with it she felt what was resisting it. This was how she traveled on her own, to help make sure she didn't hit any walls or people as she walked down the street. It had a tendency to not be 100 percent accurate however..
