Div's first day of teaching, and he wasn't the least bit scared. His classroom was large and dark, candles lighting the dank prizonesque environment. On the board were scrawled several demon circles and dark sigils. The teacher's desk its-self was nigh-unfindable under the mountain of jars, viles and bottles. The back wall however, was something completely astonishing.
Lining the stony wall and touching all four corners was a collossal bookshelf, upon which hundreds of tomes had been neatly (and alphabetically) arranged. These multitudinous volumes included prestigeous names like 'Codex Apocaliptica' but also a history element like the book: 'Salem, what the history books didn't tell you'. Coming from the edges of the book-case were many, many long wooden stakes, upon which varius skulls, glaring outwards at whoever approached the menacing wall, were impaled. Inside of those skulls, as if to add to the forboding effect of the dead gasing outwards, many blue-burning candles were lit.
As grand, dark, gloomy, occult, and menacing as this room would probably have seemed, there remained one very, very key flaw. To put things very simply, Div was sitting in a place where (due to his small, furry appearance) no-one would see him.
/this will be interesting/ The excited demon-mouse thought to himself, /I wonder when students will arrive?/

Kevin opened the door. Not feeling the coldness of the handle, his body sat near the same temperature. He looked in. "Um......invsible class?" He looked around and listened for thoughts and came across one looking at the mouse. "Wait, I can't understand animal thoughts. You must be human."

"A Very astute observation." Div laughed, hopping down from the seat next to the teacher's desk, "I am the dark arts proffessor here at Mountain View." The proffessor's whiskered face looked up at the boy with his green eyes, "Are you here for the class?" he asked curiously.

"Well I began to figure, I am very very weak in comparison to most here. And I began wondering if any dark arts training could benefit me, being that all I am is almost a merely advanced human." Kevin shrugged, "But can you even teach anything...like that?"

"now, now, now." The mouse sighed, "whatever happened to 'respect your elders'?" The mouse floated up next to the black-board, putting himself at eye-level to the boy, "If I couldn't teach you anything about that then I wouldn't be here. I obviously don't look like it, but I'm no slouch when it comes to spell-casting and curses. I have yet to be bested in a duel."
Div lowered himself back to the ground and squeeked, "do you have a name, student of mine?"

Kevin looked down at Div. "my name is Kevin." He stared at him for a minute, he smiled. "I'm sorry I am having trouble getting over the fact my dark arts teacher is a furry little creature."

"Hmm" the mouse said, pacing back and forth, "Perfectly alright, as long as you know just how blasted hard it is to do a soul transfer into a mouse."
Div stopped and then pointed with his nose to a desk, "Would you care to take a seat while awaiting the rest of the class?"

Kevin sat down and looked around. "You know, I don't mean to be rude or anything, but I highly doubt anyone will be coming." He said as he looked back down at Div.

/nonsense/ Div projected, walking back to his desk, then hopping up and going through the various viles, /Unlike you, most don't know that I am in the body of a mouse. Besides, back in my day there would have been plenty who would have loved to take classes in the ancient and powerful dark arts./
After a few moments, the mouse seemed slightly excited as he found a one particular bottle with a flowing black mist inside, /There it is!/
The bottle levitated behind the proffessor as he hopped off the desk and walked over to the blackboard, /So then, I intend to ask this to all of my students later./ The mouse looked up at the now-seated Kevin, /What exactly do you in particular want to get out of this class. Power, wisdom, an idea, conquest... all people have different reasons for learning the appealing and arcane spells that this class has to offer./ The mouse neatly set the bottle down on the rim of the blackboard, before suddenly taking a more accute interest in Kevin, /So then, what's your's?/

Kevin scratched his chin. "Well mind reading I've got down, and it only reads, no projecting. I can be really hot or really cold, though that is good only for when I am in extreme temperatures. Then I am stronger and faster than many humans combined...." He thought for a good long time. "I don't know too much that I can get out of this, maybe knowledge to know what I am going to be dealing with."

Div squeeked, /I see... good./ A book floated from the ominous shelves on the back wall, a claw of shadow dropping it onto Kevin's desk.
/This book/ The tiny proffessor projected, walking slowly up and down the length of the blackboard, /is the libra Daemonica, or 'book of demons'." The furry little fellow's green eyes looked up at Kevin again as he continued to pace, /We will focus on its content through this first week of class./
/However!/ he sqeeked again, glad that he had a student who would likely pay attention, /Before we open the text, have you ever seen a denizen of Hell prior to this class?/

Kevin scratched his head. He then shook it. "No, I can't say I have. Maybe a demon here or there, but nothing too big. I mean, they were so weak a normal human can take it down with a bat in hand." He shrugged. "So imagine that for me. But no hell denizens."

"hmmmmmm." The little mouse messed with its wiskers for an instant before continuing, "In that case I shall have some more explaining to do." The book that he had handed to him rotated in a circle on his desk, as if in mockery.
/pay no heed, the demons are just excited that they have somone who may mess up summoning them. Don't worry about it though, that will come far later in this course./ The mouse turned to look directly at Kevin, /now then, to briefly explain the very broad term: 'dark arts'/
A shadowy hand reached up from the darkness on the floor, picked up a piece of chalk, and then began to draw. /As you, being a student here at MVA have no doubt discovered by now, this is not the only dimension functioning at the same time as ours./ The hand drew a circle, /Picture if you will that THIS is the one in which we reside./ Then, another hand came up, grabbed a different color of chalk, and both added borders (one inside and one outside) of the first circle, /Now then, THESE represent the astral plains surrounding our dimension so closely that all three circles influence eachother./
The hands stopped and faded into nothingness, /These interactions between the astral plains and our dimension are what we refer to as 'magic'. Now then, care to take a guess on what makes the 'dark arts' so different?/

"Everything else?" Kevin guessed, trying to not read Divs mind as to not be cheating.

/not everything... but a few things in particular./ This time there was no dark hand, the chalk mearly levitated up to the board and drew, far away from the origional three circles, nine red ones, /What gives them their unholy, violent, seductive, and stealthy alure is that their sources of power are the nine hell dimensions. The fact that there are nine dimensions from which to make combinations to make spells means that there is a collossal amount of diversity./
Div's green eyes looked directly into Kevin's as if to emphasise the importance of what he was about to say, /While only certain spirits have the ability to harness the power of the astral plain, all can tap the power of the nine hell dimensions that have a direct link to our hearts. That's right, anyone who takes this class will have the ability to tap powers that most cringe at. However, as I will show you next lesson, the factor of a spirit's will is more key still... if you have a desire to stop your soul from being devoured, or worse yet, replacing a demon who would be set loose on the world./
A ping went off inside of The proffessor's head. So, checking the clock, he determined that class was over. The Book on Demons that Div had almost given to Kevin floated back to the shelf to be replaced with a text entitled 'the occult and location'.
/Now then, before you go I'm going to give you a reading assignment. In order to cover all the material that we need to stop you from making an irreversible mistake at some point, reading will be essential in this class. Today however, the assignment is short./ The chalk began to sketch the words 'good bye' on the board, /please read pages four through nine before our next lesson./
The furry little teacher looked at the door, and as he did so, so too did the skulls on the book-shelf. As if in response to the timeless stares, the door opened its-self promptly. /Have a nice day, Kevin./
