"Green. Brown. Blue." he said, now just nibbling on a single prawn cracker. "My mum used to make Chinese food.." he remarked, "She was pretty good at it." He went quiet for a while. "So.... Your mum cook anything?"

Ace flinched. She wasn't used to personal question, and it sort of startled her. She sneered, "I don't have a mother- She was a whore." She said bluntly. There was an awkward moment, but she shrugged it off and continued eating. "I like red, or black... sort of normal, I know."

"Eh, they're good colours." he said. He passed her some sweet and sour chicken. "And shame about your mother. Mine was pretty awesome. So was my dad. Uh.... You want to see a picture of them?"

Ace glanced over at him, "Uh yeah, sure..." She said, sort of fumbling with her words. It was rare that someone actually had a real conversation with Ace, especially about things like parents. She took the sweet and sour chicken, barely thinking about it as she shoved it down her throat. "..What happened to them?" She wondered, having completely forgotten the time lapse thing...

"They died when I was a kid." Aldo said. He rummaged through his pockets for a minute before pulling out his wallet, He flipped it open and showed her an old, somewhat discoloured photograph. It showed two adults and two kids in front of a Christmas tree. The parents were holding hands. The man looked a lot like Aldo, except older and more laugh lines. He was wearing the same coat as well. The kids were holding up brightly wrapped presents. They were almost identical except that one was wearing a blue bow.
"That's me and my sister. She's the one with the bow."

Ace looked at Aldo strangely, "You have a sister?" She asked, sort of surprised. "Huh. Your dad looks like you- he even has the coat! ...Your mom looks kind of tired though- had you woken her up that night or something?" She asked him with a small smile. She was only teasing him- Really she thought the image kinda adorable, but she wouldn't admit it.

"Yeah, it's my dad's coat. He gave it to me. And yeah, we kept her up all night, me and Adin. We were so excited about Christmas and everything, so.... " he trailed off. He stared at the picture a little while longer then shook his head and put the wallet back in his pocket. "Anyway.... Sorry for that."

Ace gave a small smile, "Sorry about what? Seriously, You don't have to apologize..." She said softly. "It's kind of sad, that's all." She said with a shrug, a little bit more audible this time. She paused for a long moment, as if wanting to say something, but then let it pass.

"I shouldn't saddle you with my emo." he said, shrugging. There was an uncomfortable silence.
"By the way, I forgot to say earlier." he said, pulling off his coat. "The shops are all shut by now so we won't be able to get blankets and stuff tonight. Take this so you don't catch cold, alright?" he held it out to her.

Ace's first reaction to the news of not having a blanket and such was 'But- the coach!'- but before she said this, She saw him hand her his coat. She reacted- "What? No! You can't be that nice! Liar!!" She said with anger, lashing out to hit his arm.

Aldo stared at her. "Huh? What? Ace, I'm offering you my coat, not the keys to the city. Like I said, I don't want you to catch cold. I'd feel bad if you did."

"Aldo, No one's Jesus! Your Dad gave you that coat!! You just got finished fucking saying so!" She said crossly, continuing on, "No Way are you offering that to me! You can't be serious!! I mean, What about you?! You'd be getting cold too!! Besides, I never get sick anyway!!" She could come up with a hundred reasons why him offering her his coat was a bad idea. Despite all this, She still thought it was incredibly nice- that's the problem.

"It's not like I'm telling you to keep it forever. Just for the night. And if you fuck it up I'll kick your ass up and down the building. It's just... I mean, hey, I'm your dad now, I guess. Gotta think of you."

Ah, Hostility. Much better. Ace calmed down a little with a sigh, "Alright, fine." She said, and stuck her tongue out, "I won't damage it though, don't worry. I'm not that much of a heartless bitch." She joked. She paused for a moment, "Wait, Dad's don't think for their kids, Kids can think for themselves you know!" She objected. She pulled the coat around her shoulders. "Wow, this is warm.. . Your a vampire right?"

"I said think OF you. Not for you." Aldo said, rolling his eyes. "And I'm special. With tildes and everything."

Ace laughed, "I knew it. You reek of specialness." She grinned. She lifted the plastic fork from the ground and tried a little bit more noodle. "It's cold." She said with disgust. "What are we gonna do with all this shit. Do we have a microwave?" She wondered.

"No, we'll have to get one tomorrow. We do have a fridge though, so stick everything in there." Aldo said, starting to pack up all the food. "We'll throw out the rice though. You can't reheat rice or it gets weird snails in it and makes you sick."

Ace shrugged, "Fine. I don't want snails, that sounds disgusting..." She said with a shudder. The light outside the dingy window was getting dimmer. She paused for a minute before restarting, "We also need something to kill all our... guests..." She said, eying a cockroach on the wall.

Aldo took off his shoe and tossed it at the cockroach. It missed, bouncing off the wall. The cockroach dropped down and started exploring the shoe carefully. Aldo swore.

Ace watched the thing, "Hahaha, Aldo, you totally failed." She said, laughing. "Here, I'll do it." She said, summoning a playing card into her hand. She threw it towards the bug at ground level and it cut the thing in half diagonally. "See? That's called fucking Skill." She said proudly.

Both halves of the cockroach started wriggling away to opposite ends of the room. Aldo rolled his eyes at Ace. "Wow. I'm amazed. Pass my shoe back."

"Hell Yes, You should be!" Ace laughed and went over to grab the shoe, hurling it back at him, probably hitting him in the face, but Ace would just laugh more if it did.

It hit him in the chest and dropped into his lap. He winced, rubbing where it hit.
"Fuck me, Ace, you've got an throw like a fucking gorilla." he said.

Ace grinned, "Nah, I won't, I'm not incestuous." She laughed, "I know, my throw is fucking deadly." She said, pulling down one of her eyelids to show the blanks tauntingly.

"You should take up a job as a bouncer, you'd be good at it. Heartlessly tossing guys like your poor old dad out on their ears into the street. Decking homeless guys who just wants some warmth. Really community stuff." Aldo said, joking.

Ace scoffed, "When you were homeless, I didn't deck you... Did I?" She tried to think back on it but couldn't remember. "I don't think I could toss someone. I might have a good arm, but I'm not exactly a heavy lifter." She said, rolling her eyes.

"Well, Ace, would it have been so surprising if you had? And I don't know, you could heft a toddler or two. Terrible menaces, those drinking toddlers." Aldo said, getting to his feet. He started picking up the the unopened bags of food, going into the kitchen and stuffing them into the fridge. "Give me a hand, will you?"

Ace laughed, "Well, maybe not..." She got up and helped Aldo with the bags, reluctantly. "Shit, we filled the fridge up fast- I don't think I've ever seen so much food in one small place!" She commented, not knowing where to put the last bag after they were all shoved in there with no room for spares. "Where the fuck should this go?" She asked Aldo, shoving it not even two inches in front of his face.

"Well, what is it? If it's more prawn crackers I'll eat them." He grabbed the bag off her, opening it. "Yeah, it's more prawn crackers. You want some?" he offered, angling the bag at her. "No idea why they gave us two, but what the hell."

Ace looked at the bag and grabbed a handful. "Well, you did ask for extra..." She noted, her memory not failing her for once. She chewed on one, tasting the full salty flavour. "These are great... " She gave a sigh. "Hey, Aldo, What time is it?" She wondered.
