A girl in some ragged blue jeans and a purple short-sleeve t-shirt walked up to the gate, a guard escorting her in a bit roughly. Brooke glanced at him, but was careful to show no other signs of disgust. After being caught for stealing so many times she was finally getting a chance to make some good of herself.
Many deliberations with the guards and the school had taken place to get her to this day, and out of a prison cell that she had spent a good deal of time in between her time on the streets. So, the arrival at this beautiful school gave Brooke some hope for her future. She wanted to redeem herself for the stealing she had done and break the old habits of stealing she found herself clinging to.

Wednesday was exploring the gated area, a large, black parasol was floating overhead, and as she did, she crouched low to the ground. There was a spiderweb in her hair and she was covered in black clothes, every article casual yet nice. Something was indeed unusual about her, but this was regular routine for her.

Brooke finished talking to the guard and started to explore around the gate. After looking around for a bit she spotted a girl, an unusual one from what she saw on the streets, though those were unusual times as well. However, the floating parasol in black was what caught her attention most, 'how could the girl have it float so perfectly?'

In the area, there were spiders of all sorts, but Wednesday was looking for her prize, Marie. She was a tarantula, and Wednesday wasn't going to accept that. She felt the aura of another and she stopped in her tracks. Wednesday sat back on her legs, opened the back on her side, and released her rag doll. Bebe was laying on the ground, motionless and normal; her button eyes were shiny and alive.

Brooke was rather shocked to see a rag doll jump out of the girl's pack on her side. She nervously approached, wondering 'were all students this strange here?' Brooke took as normal of steps as she could manage given how out of place she felt, at the moment.

As the girl approached, Bebe sat up more and more, but when the girl was close enough, she sprang to full life and smiled with her stitched mouth. "Hello there," she managed to say. Although Wednesday noticed, she wasn't quite ready to give up on Marie; there was a cage in her hand, the latch open and ready.

Brooke backed away a rather nervously when the doll spoke, before gathering her courage to shakily manage a soft, "Hello."

Bebe giggled, "Ah! You must be a little more normal than I thought!" She walked a little closer, "My mistress is rather sorry, but she is not available right at the moment, for Marie has escaped." Wednesday crouched lower than before. Bebe smiled and looked up at the girl, "What is your name?"

"Normal...uh...no...and it's...uh...uh...uhmm...Brooke, what's your name?" Brooke asked trying to gather herself and get over the shock of this talking rag doll.

She curtsied politely, "Bebe, head servant of my Mistress." Wednesday leaped and screamed a battle cry. Bebe smiled again, "Ah, speaking of which, Bebe believes that Mistress has caught Marie." Wednesday closed her cage and brushed herself off, then she walked over to Bebe and Broke. "Hello, Brooke, I am Wednesday Coffin," she said, holding her hand out.

Brooke nervously shook the girl's hand, wondering 'was she alright?' After all the girl had caught, what looked like a hairy spider and had screamed moments before that. "Nice to meet you," she said after gulping nervously.

Wednesday didn't smile much, for she knew that the young girl might be frighten more, so she smirked in hopes of not being rude. "So," she began, Bebe climbing her the chains on her black jeans, "Brooke, I'm Wednesday. It is nice to meet you. I'm very sorry that I scared you, however, it is a hobby of mine." Wednesday didn't move while Bebe sat perched on her shoulder, and held the little cage close to her body.

Brooke nodded, rather unsure how to act around this strange girl. "So, umm...what were you doing?" she asked curiously.

Wednesday stared at the girl in thought, looked down and contemplated, then looked up with her eyes; she smiled and made sure that her fangs weren't visible to Brooke. "Do you like spiders," Wednesday inquired, "If you don't, I understand if you don't want to meet Marie. That was what I was doing; she escaped, and I didn't want to lose her. She is hard to find now in days."

Brooke tilted her head, "A pet spider...?" she inquired, wondering 'how much stranger is this place going to get?'

Wednesday held the cage in font of her face and revealed to Brooke the hairy and scary looking tarantula. "Yes. I collect spiders as pets. They're all so beautiful. In the concrete jungle, one cannot find one as pretty as her," she said proudly.

Brooke eyed the spider nervously. "Why...spiders?" she asked. "Aren't they poisonous or something and how do you make that umbrella float above your head?" she asked.

Bebe stood up and jumped, snatching the cage in the process; when she landed she sat down talking to Marie. Wednesday kept her smile. She was rather amused and then gave out one "ha". She blinked in thought for a second, then placed her words together. "Well, I collect spiders because that was my first pet," she began, smiling, "Spiders are poisonous, but I'm very careful not to scare them too much. And I can both keep spiders as pets and make my parasol float for one soul reason. I deal with magic."

Brooke raised an eyebrow. "You mean the kind like they show on tv shows? That kind of magic?" she asked rather intrigued by all this.

Wednesday squeezed her eyes shut, covering her eyes; there was a tad bit of irritation, but she didn't let Brooke know that. "No," she said plainly, "The magic on the television is tricks eyes, also called an optical illusion." Wednesday uncovered her eyes and opened them to look at Brooke again, "The magic I'm talking about is the magic you would read in a book, or fairytale as you might call it."

"Oh," Brooke replied raising an eyebrow. She hadn't read too many books in her time, but she intended to read more. "So...umm...when do classes start?" she asked.

Wednesday furrowed her eyebrows and frowned a little looked around for a second or two. Then she looked at Brooke again, "I'm not sure. I haven't yet signed up for any." Bebe and the spider were still happily in conversation.

Wednesday nodded and looked at Bebe; the doll nodded as well and picked up the spider's cage. Wednesday walked off to gather her bag and Bebe, with Marie, jumped in and sat comfortably inside. She then walked back to Brooke and smiled, "Well, I like the idea. We shall go then."

Wednesday looked around and found the path again, "This way." Her movements were comparable to a gliding effect and she looked like there wasn't a care in the world when she gazed off in the distance, but there was a definite morbidity in the way she looked. "So," she began on their way to the academy, "Where are you from?"

"Not very trusting are you," asked Wednesday in a very dry tone of voice. She opened her bag and pulled out a black and white comic book, but rather than having words, there were nothing but pictures. A look closer would tell one that they were actually a series of inkblots.

Brooke watched Wednesday closely. "So, is that your variation on voodoo book?" she asked. "A comic book?"

Wednesday looked up ahead of her, furrowing her eyebrows and frowned in very obvious confusion, but she knew that Brooke was more confused than she was. There was a long and semi-awkward pause, and every time Wednesday opened her moth, she closed it in thought. When words finally came to her, there was still confusion in her voice, but Wednesday did well to hide it. "You have no idea what voodoo is, do you," she began, "This is a series of inkblots, some sort of test for the mental doctors. I have it in comic book form because it is the easiest way of keeping track of them."
