Niranie lies on her back in the middle of an open field, staring up at the sky. She is watching the clouds shift from shape to shape. A bird...no, a girl, now a king...then, a dragon. Today, her eyes are a hazel color, with flecks of blue in them. She is almost invisible underneath the tall grass, and she feels worlds away from reality. She is listening for the heartbeat of the earth, and straining to match it with her own. She sits up and sighs in frustration. I can't feel it today. The pull of the sky is too strong. Her attention is drawn back to the clouds. A rabbit is chasing a cat that is running from a sunbeam. She smiles, and the blue specks in her eyes slowly multiply. She lays back down, and resumes her cloud-gazing.

Carcer was wondering through the field, He didn't really have a purpose, Well not anymore. In his old life he would have spent his time tending to the dragons, or maybe with Mia, but not here, This world had no real use for him it seemed. Carcer started throwing knives in random directions every so often, some strayed into the sky, other went plummeting into the earth almost instantly, but the few that took the middle course went buzzing through the high grass, their razor sharp edges cutting a long thin swath with its path.

Niranie gasps when something shiny streaks right across her view. Was that a blade? She sits up very quickly, so as to avoid getting skewered by mistake. She turns, and sees a young man standing near by with yet another blade in his hand. Niranie stands slowly, and notes how pale and thin he looks. "Ummm...was I in your way?" she asks somewhat hesitantly.

Carcer turns to the girl, mildly surprised,' No , i actually didn't see you there, sorry if i cut or Startled you", He says still somewhat surprised to see someone else out in the field." Might i ask what it is your doing out here miss?'', Carcer added as he put his knives away.

Niranie sighs in relief when the knives leave her sight. Then she smiles and says, "That's alright. Serves me right for laying down in tall grass... I was cloud-gazing." Niranie points up at the sky and shrugs. "I couldn't resist. Would you care to join me?" she asks amiably, for she wouldn't mind the company.

Carcer shrugs slightly," Sure ", he answered simply as he walks over to her. Carcer hadn't really looked at the clouds allot during his life, well he had it was just usually from above them.

"My name is Nira." She lies back down in her previous spot, and looks up at him curiously. Her hair has bits of grass in it, and her dress is a mess, but she doesn't seem to mind. Her eyes are practically glowing blue, from the influence of the sky. "So I'm guessing you have a thing for knives...?"

" My name is Carcer, and Kinda, its part of my powers, for some reason whenever i want a knife one appears in my hand, and i can get them to follow any path i want when i throw them, it is kinda a stress reliever as well", Carcer explained as he took off his jacket and rolled it up into a pillow before putting it on the ground and laying down as well.

Niranie glances over as he lays down. "It's very nice to meet you, Carcer," she says while pointing up at a cloud, "If you like blades, that one looks kind of like a sword." She brings her arm back down, and puts her hands behind her head. "That must come in handy, having control over them like that. At least you don't have to worry about missing."

" Yeah it kinda does, and yes it does cut down on missing", A few moments of silence pass," Do you have any powers Nira", Carcer asks. He closes his eyes for a bit, It was oddly serene at the moment, a feeling Carcer had missed quite a bit.

"Yes," Nira replies, "I have limited control over water, air, and earth." Niranie's eyes turn hazel again, and the grass around Carcer's head begins to tangle and untangle in his hair. She looks over at him and smiles. "I can only do small things, but I'm getting stronger with age and experience." Her eyes go back to blue, and the movement in the grass is left to the wind once more.

"interesting, how long have you been at the practice?", Carcer asked as he brushed a few blades of grass out of his hair. Carcer takes in a deep breath once again the serenity over takes him.

"My father has been teaching me for as long as I can remember." She glances over a Carcer, and stifles a laugh. "You missed a spot." She reaches over, and brushes a blade of grass from his forehead. "Sorry about that," she says, still smiling. "What about you? How long have you been able to summon knives on a whim?"

" All my life, it was not as funny when i was little though", Carcer answered with a big smile as he stretched his arms upward. he seemed a lot more at peace then he was normally.

Niranie notices that Carcer's smile seems strange on his face, as if he doesn't smile very often. She wonders, but doesn't say anything about it. "Well, I imagine that a child with unlimited access to knives would be somewhat...problematic." Niranie stretches her hands up as well, and arches her back until she is looking behind her at an upside down world. It makes her slightly dizzy.

Carcer opened one eye and looked over at her," What are you doing nira?", he asked with a confused look on his face, why would someone feel the need to do such a weird thing.

"Just trying to see the world from a different perspective. Plus, it feels amazing on my back. Try it, if you want." Niranie pushes herself one inch further to complete the stretch, then comes back to topside. "Look! That cloud is half person, half butterfly!" She laughs, and tries to imagine a real person like that. It's quite impossible to do with a straight face...

Carcer sighed a little, but a smile still appeared on his face," You are an interesting one miss Nira." He then said in a mildly happy tone as the smile grew just slightly.

Niranie is happy to see Carcer smile again. "Why thank you, Mr. Carcer. I hope that's not a bad thing." Niranie gives a small sigh of her own. "I know that I can be a little...strange to some people." Niranie's thoughts wander back to home, and she wonders what Carcer's home is like, but she doesn't want to seem too nosy. She glances over at him again, and she is struck by how peaceful he looks, and by how unaccustomed peace seems to be on his face. "You don't go cloud-gazing very often, do you?"

" well not really, at least not like this, Where i come from the clouds are below us so we have to go to the cliffs to see the clouds and its been years sense I've done that". Carcer answered as he looks up at her with a continued small smile.

"Well that's different," Niranie says, somewhat confused. "Where is it that you come from to have such strange clouds?" Niranie looks at him inquiringly.

" Um, well the future, I live on a flying continent called the overcroft", Carcer said hoping not to seem too crazy given the story he was telling. he somewhat doubted that she would believe him.

"You come from the future? How interesting. I guess the world is due for some big changes, if there are flying continents...I wonder how in the world that happened...How did you end up here?" Niranie's mind begins to whirl with all sorts of possibilities. She is not the doubting type. She looks over at Carcer with her eyes full of wonder.

" Um, my dad created them when he took over most of the western hemisphere, and I lived there because my dad kind of owned it", Carcer answered with a happy smile remembering all the good times he had during his life on the Overcroft.

"What was it like? Was it like living on normal earth, just in the air? Or was it like those sci-fi movies where it looks like they're living in spaceships? Or...what?" Niranie hits Carcer with a string of questions, and is ready to ask more, but she suddenly remembers herself, and waits patiently for his answer. At least...as patient as possible for Niranie.

" It was just like living on the regular earth, Space ships where all allot more cramped and had gravity issues". Carcer answered his smile widening further with the more memories her questions conjured.

"Why did you have to go to cliffs to see clouds? Were you really that high up? What was on the ground that made people live in the sky? How big was the continent in the sky?" Niranie comes to another abrupt halt as she catches herself again. "I'm sorry," she sighs, "it's just so fascinating!" She looks at Carcer wtih a pleading expression.

Carcer smiled," The ground was polluted, so my dad had everyone move to the sky so that the land could recover from the wars, and don't worry about it i know it is just interesting to know what the future holds", He said happily, more of his memories filtered in, specifically a time not too long ago when he had gone to the cliffs with his beloved and watched the clouds.

"Polluted...?" Niranie's face looks sad, "That's terrible. Why were there wars? Who was fighting them? How did the whole world get polluted? Is there any way to stop it? How far away is then from now?" Niranie's questions are coming faster, and she seems ready to go and save the future world right that instant, if she can. She pauses again, and tries to bring herself back to the present, to the happy look on Carcer's face. She doesn't want to get all depressed while he seems so happy. The future world is his home, after all. It can't be so terrible if he seems so happy remembering it. But she's still anxious.

"Yes, the world was scarred, and torn apart after it went through a couple world wars, unfortunately they can't be stopped, some real good comes out of them Trust me. And I'm from about forty-Seven years in the future Nira", Carcer said as he cracked his neck back and forth.
